2026 AUDITION INFORMATION

Calling All Dancers Ages 5 & Up!
We’re excited to welcome dancers to audition for our 2026 production! This is a wonderful opportunity to perform, grow as a dancer, make new friends, and experience the excitement of being part of a spectacular live stage production.

Dancers ages 5 and up with at least one year of ballet experience are invited to audition.

Saturday, August 22, 2026
FOURSIS DANCE • Waterford, WI
(Open to all Dazzlers)

2:00–3:00 PM — Ages 5–7
3:15–4:45 PM — Ages 8–11
5:00–6:30 PM — Ages 12 & Up

Pointe Dancers: Dancers currently training on pointe are required to attend the audition at MainStage Academy of Dance in Oconomowoc on August 29.

Before Your Audition

Please arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled audition time to allow time for check-in and registration.

At check-in, each dancer will provide their name and contact information, receive an audition number to pin to their leotard, and have a headshot taken.

All dancers must be registered in advance to audition.

What to Wear

We encourage dancers to wear:
Black leotard
Pink tights
Pink ballet shoes
Hair neatly secured in a ballet bun

If you do not already own a black leotard, no worries! Dancers are welcome to wear their regular class leotard color.

A Family Tradition in the Lake Country Area 

The Nutcracker Ballet has become a beloved holiday favorite in the Lake Country Area. The story of a young girl who is swept into a fantasy adventure when her Christmas gift of a Nutcracker comes to life. MainStage-SCB Artistic Director Eddy Bray takes you along on Clara’s journey. Don’t miss it December 4, 5 & 6 at the Oconomowoc Arts Center.

An evening of Music, Dance, & Storytelling

Among the ballet’s memorable moments is the epic battle scene between the toy soldiers, an evil mouse king, his fellow mice, and the Nutcracker. The Sugar Plum Fairy’s court showcases beautiful dancers from around the world and includes a clever Chinese Lion. The grand pas de deux with Clara and her Nutcracker Prince is breathtaking.

Please read the following information carefully.

REHEARSALS:
The rehearsal process is essential to the success of our production. Dancers are expected to attend all scheduled rehearsals. At MainStage Academy of Dance | School of Classical Ballet (MSAD-SCB), Oconomowoc and or Foursis Dance, Waterford. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise; therefore, up to two excused absences will be permitted.

Rehearsals are held on Weekend leading up to tech-week daily rehearsals beginning Monday November 23rd at the Oconomowoc Arts Center.

Please note: Not all dancers will be called every weekend. Rehearsal schedules will be determined based on the evolving needs of the production. A weekly schedule specifying which roles and or scenes are needed will be emailed every Tuesday to help families plan ahead.
Rehearsals are mandatory.

Casting and rehearsal schedules will be posted in the studio and emailed by September 4th. If you have questions or need further information, you may also contact Director Bray at [email protected]. Please note that not all roles may be cast by this date.

FEES:
The audition fee is $25 due before the audition begins, and a $175 performance fee is required and that covers rehearsals. An additional costume fee will be assessed based on the roles received. If a dancer is cast in multiple roles, there will be a costume fee for each additional role.

All fees must be paid in full by the deadlines outlined in the Nutcracker performance packet.

VOLUNTEERING & FUNDRAISING:
Each family is expected to contribute 10 volunteer hours, assist with four shifts (two during theater rehearsals and two during performances), and raise $150 through fundraising. All families are required to stay after the show closes to assist with loading out the theater.
