Studio Dress Code

Dance Attire Guidelines:

MSAD-SCB requires specific attire to ensure a cohesive and professional appearance in classes and performances. Wearing the designated MSAD dancewear fosters unity, reflects dedication, and allows dancers to focus fully on their technique and artistry, enriching their overall experience.

Leotard: Female dancers are required to wear a black MainStage logo leotard. Male dancers should wear a white MainStage logo leotard.

Tights: Female dancers must wear convertible pink tights. Male dancers should wear full-footed black tights (convertible tights are acceptable). Cut-off tights are not permitted. Younger academy boys may wear bike shorts or black sweatpants during their early years at the studio.

Ballet Shoes: Female dancers must wear pink ballet shoes with elastics. Male dancers must wear black ballet shoes with elastics.

Ballet Skirts: Ballet skirts are permitted in pointe classes, unless otherwise directed by the instructor.

Jazz & Character Shoes: Jazz or character shoes are required for all other genre classes.

Warm-Ups: Students are encouraged to wear warm-up layers before and after class.

Hair Requirements:

*Female dancers with chin-length hair or longer must wear a traditional ballet bun for all classes.
*Students with short hair should secure it neatly away from the face.
*Male dancers with long hair must tie it back in a ponytail; those with shorter hair should keep it tidy and off the face.
*In Tot Combo and Creative Movement classes, a neatly secured ponytail is acceptable.
*Headbands are discouraged as they often slip off during class.
